Etymotic Research has recently introduced an enhancement to two new models of its classic ER-4 insert earphones. One is the ER4SR Studio Reference earphone and the other is ER4XR Extended Response model. Here, we are highlighting some of the workings of ER4XR.

The new Etymotic ER4XR (‘Extended Response’) is a kind of in-ear headphones which are designed in a balanced armature single-driver designs. Its Etymotic states are more articulate and seamless than multiple-driver arrays. The ER4XR Extended Response earphone delivers a modest bass enhancement based on the genuine ER-4’s neutral sound while providing a signature sound, requested by some of the ER-4 users.
