Description / 64 Audio Ocean

64 Audio Ocean
Since it launched, 64 Audio's flagship IEM Fourté proudly sat at the top of the product range, influencing almost every aspect of the company's custom and universal products for 10 years. Now 64 Audio is ready to introduce Ocean: the new benchmark in portable high-end audio.
Ocean is fundamentally a 6-driver, 4-way system, characterized by a neutral sound signature and impressive mid-range realism. With the same technical performance 64 Audio products are known for, Ocean presents a wide soundstage, excellent separation, and full frequency clarity. Low-frequencies are reproduced by two custom dynamic drivers configured in a true isobaric arrangement that provide powerful and exceptionally clean low-end. The mid-range is rich and present, leaving nothing to be desired. Upper mid-range is critical to expectations of realism in an IEM: too low and things sound distant and lost, too high and it's shouty and harsh. Ocean continues 64 Audio's tradition of striking a perfect balance. Ocean features one of the very few additive tuning mechanisms in UIEM design: 64 Audio's remarkably effective tia waveguide. Further refined with the company's recently patented meta-material, and combined with the tia™ high-driver, Ocean renders high frequencies in a way that sounds lifelike, natural, and pleasant.
Presented in a Champagne Copper color aluminum shell and machined faceplate, the design itself is inspired by aeolian ripples: geological patterns formed in sediment, shifted by the movement of wind. The inclination towards a minimalist design is in keeping with 64 Audio's brand identity as well as an intentionally diametric response to current design trends in the market. Ocean is the ultimate tinkerer's UIEM and the next volume in 64 Audio's anthology.

Passive Acoustic Control
64 Audio knows from experience with casual listeners to the most discerning world-class performers that there's a range in low-frequency response preference. This is further confirmed by all available research into headphone neutrality targets. This is why Ocean allows listeners to choose between four back-vent filters, giving a roughly 8dB range in LF sensitivity without affecting isolation.
While low-frequency response has a range of preference, interpersonal HRTF variation means that sensitivity to high-frequencies differs based on the acoustic impedance of individual anatomy. Ocean's single bore has been redesigned to accommodate a removable stainless steel "tia" screen which comes in two options for high-frequency sensitivity. This can either be useful to tune Ocean to a listener's HRTF, or as a mechanism to make adjustments for changes in source material.

Ocean uses a 6-driver, 4-way configuration: 1 tia high driver, 1 high-mid balanced armature, 2 mid balanced armatures, and 2 low isobaric dynamic drivers.
The tia waveguide is one of the few additive tuning mechanisms used in UIEM design. Combined with the tia high-driver and 64 Audio's patented meta-material, it renders high frequencies in a way that sounds lifelike, natural, and pleasant.
Yes. Ocean includes four interchangeable back-vent filters that give roughly an 8dB range in low-frequency sensitivity without affecting isolation, plus two interchangeable high-frequency tia screens to fine-tune high-frequency sensitivity to your ears or your source material.
Ocean ships with a 0.78mm 2-pin cable in two termination options: 3.5mm and 4.4mm. The cable is a 24 AWG 4-core litz design with 99 strands per core, silver-plated UP-OCC copper, and 0.29 Ω total impedance.
Ocean includes a carry case, foam and silicone ear tips, 3.5mm and 4.4mm 2-pin cables, high-frequency screens, low-frequency filters, a tool and holder, cleaning cloth, shirt clip, and Apex modules.
