The Horizon is a new IEM from AZLA, which uses a novel driver assembly called the ARD (Advanced Research Driver). Rather than using a traditional dynamic driver configuration where the magnet is located behind the voice coil, the Infinity driver encloses the entire 8mm dynamic driver diaphragm within a magnetic housing. This allows for a stronger magnetic force across the entire driver surface, and it ensures the driver achieves incredible low frequency control and broad extension into the high frequencies. If you are a fan of the controlled slam of planar sound from Audeze headphones, you will appreciate the sound of the Horizon.

The Horizon’s package includes AZLA’s custom SednaFit eartips and a quality braided and kevlar sleeved detachable MMCX cable. Please note that an IEM case or pouch is not included with the Horizon.

The AZLA has strong sub-bass extension, but very little mid-bass colouration, meaning that it is bassy in sound but not ‘warm’ in the same way that similar single driver IEMs like the iBasso IT01 or the Sennheiser IE80S are. By the same token the high frequencies are well extended, but do not have a particular peak. The Horizon does not sound forward or aggressive, and in this way makes for an excellent all-rounder for all music genres.

For an earphone with even more bass authority and high frequency texture, consider the flagship AZLA 01R MKII.
