AZLA 01R MKII Bulls Eye Driver In-Ear

The AZLA-01R MKII is the new flagship IEM from AZLA, using a new generation version of their Bulls Eye Driver. This unique driver configuration couples a wide band Balanced Armature driver placed in the centre of AZLA’s novel dynamic driver, the 11mm Infinity ARD (Advanced Research Driver). Rather than using a traditional dynamic driver configuration where the magnet is located behind the voice coil, the Infinity driver encloses the entire dynamic driver assembly within a magnetic housing. This allows for a stronger magnetic force across the entire driver surface, and it ensures the driver achieves incredible low frequency control and broad extension into the high frequencies. The end result, when coupled with the wide-band BA driver, is absolutely stellar sub-bass control and extension, as well as textured and detailed high frequencies.

Like it’s sibling the Horizon, the 01R MKII has strong sub-bass extension, but very little mid-bass colouration. It is bassy in sound, but whereas the Horizon is warmer and smoother, the 01R MKII is leaner and cleaner. The bass control and lack of distortion is tremendously impressive at this price point. High frequencies have some crispy texture to them thanks to the BA driver. The 01R MKII does not sound forward or particularly aggressive, and in this way makes for an excellent all-rounder for all music genres.
