Based in Berwyn, Illinois, ZMF was founded by Zach Mehrbach, who began the journey of a headphone manufacturer by modding Fostex T50RPs in his basement. This was the seed that would eventually become unique proprietary designs, and eventually a workshop and a team of artisans regularly producing headphones. ZMF makes every headphone with these core values: 1. Design inspired by a classic foundation with modern acoustic technology. 2. Handbuilt by a craftsman, not a production line. 3. Completely modular headphone designs that will with-stand the test of time through the ability to make easy repairs. 4. Higher impedance drivers for the discerning audiophile, with the opportunity to cater the sound to taste with different amps 5. Different recommended earpads which allow for tuning each model to the owner's general sound preference.
