The Cayin N6iii is a unique digital audio player from Cayin which features a fully modular audio motherboard, which can be replaced by the user with a tool free, quick release self-locking latch.

The included C201 audio motherboard is a powerhouse, with a parallel full-differential matrix DAC consisting of 8 Cirrus Logic CS43198 32-bit DAC chips. The FPGA in the N6iii main unit feeds each DAC with I²S signals individually . All DACs work in MONO mode. Four pieces of CS43198 are grouped into one stereo channel, and their outputs are paralleled to create a full-differential output channel. The power upply and peripheral circuitry for each DAC chip are fully discrete and symmetric.

C201 Audio Motherboard: High-current Parallel Headphone Amplifier

The C201 features 4x Texas Instruments OPA1622 op-amps configured into a parallel amplification array. The OPA1622 is a low noise, low distortion dual audio operational amplifier that deliver high output-drive capability. While fully differential balanced amplification can be achived with a pair of dual op-amps, C201 doubles that number into a parallel amplification design, combined wtih buffer circuits, to increase the output current capability and lower the output impedance.

This circuit design pays homage to the headphone amplification circuit of the classic N8 DAP.

A dedicated 3.5mm line out port on the C201 lets you enjoy the C201's clean DAC output with an external amplifier.

The DAC chip in the E203, the ESS ES9039SPRO, was developed under the latest Hyperstream® IV architecture.

The ES9039SPRO features an 8-channel independent current output path. To align with this design, Cayin have implemented a corresponding 8-channel independent I/V (Current-to-Voltage) conversion circuit. It is followed by the LPF circuit to extract four fully-differential signals, which are then paired with a Buffer driver circuit. Both the LPF and Buffer circuits are designed with a fully symmetric and balanced architecture, ensuring that the signal is transmitted and amplified in a balanced manner throughout the E203.

E203 Audio Motherboard: Dual Mode Hybrid Amplifier with Hyper Mode

The amplification circuit of the E203 features a Hybrid design, seamlessly integrating high-performance OPA1612 op-amps with carefully selected discrete bipolar junction transistors (BJTs). This approach combines the precision and efficiency of op-amps with the superior sound quality and flexibility of discrete components in amplification stage.

The OPA1612 provides excellent performance, while the discrete BJTs enable a fully symmetric current amplification stage. The discrete BJTs allows for extensive sound tuning, giving Cayin the freedom to shape the desired tonal characteristics to make ES9039SPRO more emotionally engaging on E203, and forming the foundation for true Class A amplification.

E203 features a dual mode Class A/AB amplification mode, and enhanced Hyper mode for highest power output performance. E203 does not feature a line out circuit.
